I'm looking for someone to straighten my slash front bumper on my single cab. I am in Destin and would like to find someone in the Pensacola area, but really I will just take about anything within reasonable driving distance. I go to the east coast a lot so that isn't out of the question. I've called every body shop around here and nobody will do it.

Check your yellow pages for shops that do "Chrome" work, especially ones that will do bumpers. Inquire with them if they are willing to fix your bumper for painting.

Yeah I already did that too. I have a feeling I need to either mail it off, or start looking for an NOS one. :(

Might try your local all car swap meets. You can ask other vintage car collectors about where they get their chrome done.

This would be your most cost effective way. I have used them before and they are pretty nice. I certainly would not pay shipping 2 ways and labor when these are available.

Wow nice but has anyone bought one and can say if the gauge is the same? I can't seem to find the rear blade, anybody find it?

Front and rear are slash only. They are pretty good quality, heavy gauge, comparable to the OG.

I've never done a slash bumper. But I did two bumpers for my 66 westy. I had never done it before and just went at it. I grabbed a small sledge and struck the edge sharply where it was bent. I am still amazed at how straight I got it. The metal is fairly think which I think helps quite a bit.. I filled one minor dent with bondo, but I'll probably go back and remover it and try to get that out as well. I think if you give it a try, striking just the edges so as not to do further damage, you might just be surprised at how easliy the matal "remembers" its past shape.

When those first came out we got to handle them. Metal thinner and welds that are beads inches long on OG ones were just a few smaller areas instead.

Have heard more recently that they are still of thinner metal.

I had Denver Bumper straighten and powder coat mine. You can see the before and after.

I have to WW bumpers and they are nice quality. I took my old banged up one and pounded it straight with a 2# sledge. Welded up holes and a big can opener rip on it. Tiny bit of body filler, high build primer and paint. I put it on the front of my bus trailer and it looks new. Easy fix that you can do yourself. Go for it!

They did a great job! I've seen others here show me their bumpers repaired and power coated or just painted professionally and they all look amazing actually better than new even. What I just don't understand is why I am still unable to locate someone in the north east to do the same work and save me on on shipping. The cost to make a set of bumpers look this good is certainly not cheap but when you add in the shipping round trip it is very costly. I travel from NJ to NYC weekly and still nobody has posted anyone to do this work in the northeast :shock: . I guess I need to go to some big American Car Show and ask the guys and gals with 50's American cars where they get their bumpers done. I'm assuming chrome shops which I am in the process of checking as we speak. I want my bumpers to look like your's :D

I just received a reply from WW and the bumpers will be in next week. Unfortunately, or for the early bus fans, fortunately...wink.... they are slash style :cry:

I've seen the WW ones in person. They are nice, but the overriders don't mount up right. I think I'll give the sledge a try. If it doesn't work I'll probably see about the Denver place. My parents live near there and I can probably get them to take them and pick them up for me. Thanks!
