Here is a picture of my attempt to wire in a new aux battery isolator into a stock set up 86 vanagon westy "weekender" (aux battery for fridge but no other camping equipment). I pulled the connections from the original SR9813 relay which was overheating. I have the wiring from the starter battery to the A pole and the aux battery and new fuse panel on the B pole. I am unsure of what to do with the additional wires I have. I believe the Red/black is ground from starter, Blue is ignition trigger and red is from aux fuse box (which I didn't know I had and leads me to believe my info may be incorrect). Right now I have no power with the batteries connected. Any thoughts on what I am missing? Thanks!

You can ignore most of those wires as the Blue seas unit is voltage sensing. You will need a ground from the ACR though. The instructions should say where to attach it pretty clearly.

Some people don't run with fuses but I always put them as close to each battery terminal as I can before running the wires to the ACR.

You don't need to do anything with either the blue or the red/black. Leave them aside, with tape over the ends.

I have the fuse block behind the ACR running to the other equipment I put it (new camper lights and an additional 12v outlet). The ACR is grounded with the Brown wire(not labeled). I had just pulled the tape off to check the continuity, see if I could figure out what was wrong. Thoughts on that last red wire then? Is it going to the main fuse box?

I run 6 gauge wire from the Batteries to the ACR and I use 80 amp maxi fuses. That should be fine if you have the smaller alternator, if they blow, you can go up to 100 amps. It's more than the 6 gauge wire is rated for but the wires should only take that much juice for a very short time before the rate slows down so I don't see much harm in it. They'll blow if the wires short to ground, which is the main thing, and they should prevent an electrical fire.

I like the maxi fuses because they're compact and you can mount them very close to the terminal. There are also thermal overload circuit breakers, but most of them are too large for under the seat with the battery.

What gauge wiring are you running?

The stock (8 gauge wiring I think), with a short patch of 10 gauge between the ACR and the aux battery. I re-run the stock wiring and lose the patch if need be.
