Update again......

Brought the van up to Mendocino for the weekend, had the oil leak. Determined it was from the oil cooler and not the main seal which had been repaired this past week. The engine was also misfiring now.

Dropped the van off Monday at the mechanic, just picked it up about an hour ago. The oil cooler leak was caused by the filter at the oil cooler being cracked when it was installed. After all of the times we have brought it in for this oil leak, they always checked the seal but not the filter. Hmmm. Anyway, they ate the cost of that and supposedly the leak is fixed. Only time and driving will tell. Oh, and misfires were due to the spark plugs that we just had installed 15,000 miles ago.

As for the crank shaft, flywheel etc. This is definitely determined to be a GoWesty thing. The flywheel, etc came WITH the engine and were not installed by our mechanic. As to why GoWesty is only covering part of it. Supposedly, when we bought the engine (May '11) the "Road Warrior" 4 year/48,000 miles warranty is not what it is today, where they cover 100% of repairs and parts. They are saying that it was a retroactive, where as you are into your warranty, they only cover a percentage. We are almost at 50% through our warranty , so GoWesty wants to cover 50%.

Again, I say Hmmmmm?? I am trying to find our warranty. We moved since we got the engine and I am desperately looking for a box of papers that it would be in, because I am finding that response hard to believe. I have never heard of a "retroactive warranty", and am pretty sure my husband and myself would have questioned that when we were spending $9k to get a new engine.

IdahoDoug - I agree with you regarding GoWesty vs. VanCafe. We get 90% of our stuff from VanCafe. They have better customer service, better prices, better everything....and you get cookies with your order!!! :) We are less than 2 hours away from them, so we can easily drive there and get our parts. We are actually buying a new canvas and having them install it for us, as well as the hydraulic lifts for the pop top.

I'll keep you all updated on any new outcome.

Thanks for the input everyone.
