Built in Oregon by Brandon Smisek on A FULL LENGTH VW PAN, this new car has some nice lines. 8) From reading the posts, it's not available yet, but will be soon. :D

Here is a link to the build on the FB page: https://www.facebook.com/smisekstark

And some pics:

I want to keep an eye on this project, this looks practical for daily use!

Great looking kit....THe only thing I don't like about it is the way you have to get in and out.

Yes, that side window looks small and the back window doesn't look to easy either. LOL Tom

I believe the plan is for the doors to be functional.

Here is an artist rendering of different set ups the builder just posted today:

Well, he doesn't look 5'2 like whoever must have designed a lot of the kits back in the day  , Is it on a full length pan?

Here is the response from the FB page:

Quote: About
I just thought the baja bug could use a fresh look. It fits a stock type 1 pan so no worries.
Mission
to produce a kit car body for the stock vw type 1 pan as an alternative to the meyers manx or the baja bug.

And you are right, the builder doesn't look 5'2" and it looks roomy inside:

I really like this, if the doors work. One glaring thing I see missing is provisions for windshield wipers. It's got a roof, it needs working wipers for all season fun in the Pacific Northwest. 'Cause guess what -- it really does rain a lot of days of the year up here.

Looks like an interesting option...

I see a VW engine fitted to the car and looks like a two seater roadster configuration, but do you know if it is based on a shortened VW type 1 platform or it needs a custom built chassis?

From what I can tell based on fb info, looks like a full length pan.

I edited the first post, to reflect that yes, it is built on a full length VW pan.

I spoke with him a few years ago about maybe producing his kits, but hadn't heard anything about it until now. It looks like he's doing a good job. Hopfully its a popular kit.

This is cool. How ever it does kinda look like a scaled down Honda Ridgeline.

The body has some decent lines to it & could do well - target price will be key...

Is it custom glass? or is it out of something?
