I was wondering what was the last year for the swing axel. I did a search but I probally gave up to quick. I searched through 15 pages of post.

Actually, it was '68.

VW Germany produced swing axle Type 1's until the end of sedan production, in 1978, and Mexico up until the end of production in Mexico last year.

For all practial purposes it is '68. Unless you don't live in the US?

that's what I was thinking too, but then not everyone who surfs the samba is in the US :shock: :wink:

Aussiebug ( Rob) in Australia and I used to squabble about specs as I don't know jack ( well much anyway) about non US specs,( which is what I post) and he was always posting all kinds of specs on things!

After a while I did see things his way ](*,) :lol: Better to have to much info and not need it than not enough!
