Can you confirm this is the right GoWesty gutter mount for the ARB. Thanks

My two bits: If you're going to set up a base camp for two or more days to hang out, go with the bus depot. If you think you will often find yourself setting up the awning for anywhere from an hour up to two days, and if you might need to set it up fast ( i.e., in the rain), then I suggest the ARB.-CJ
We went with the BD EZ awning and its great, but all is true about setup time etc. plus quite heavy with all the parts. We've had some bending of the metal parts to in non-too-stong of winds...for those that have used both, how does the ARB do with rain? Seems like if its straight down and calm, it would shed well, but if at all coming at an angle, would be wide open in comparison to the BD awning...any experienced with that? |

This thread is incredibly positive about the ARB awning which is giving me pause regarding my interest in the Fiamma F45.
I too have a Bus Depot awning and think it is great when set up, but I have only used it about 5 times in the past 4 years since it takes a while to get set up. I convinced myself that if my motivation in a better awning is to be able to deploy it at a moment's notice, then the F45 was the obvious choice.
Has anyone used both the ARB and the F45 by just themselves (no help from a friend), and can you comment on how quickly one deploys compared to the other? |

the only thing the arb awning has over the fiama is a far lower price. if i had it in my budget to get a fiama f45 right now i would do it without a second thought... but i don't, so i plan on getting the arb.
the fiama f45 is like the cadillac of van awnings, its by far the quickest and easiest to set up and does fine in modest wind and rain without guy lines or stakes. i have yet to try out the arb while camping but im sure all the good reviews come from something other than price. |

I think I'll get an ARB eventually as well, primarily for the price and because I won't be using it every day. I also like that it appears light weight.
The gowesty mounts require drilling, but the North Westy ones don't. It also appears North Westy is sold out. I think I'd prefer to avoid drilling if possible. Are there any other vendors that have mounts that don't require drilling? I need to mount on the gutters because I'd like to keep the top up while using the awning (so the roof rack mounts won't work for me). |

Does the heavy-duty nylon-reinforced PVC bag that holds the awning make lots of noise when going down the road at 65? Any loose flapping of the material? |

I'm guilty of going a lot faster than 65 mph (the joys of a Suby 2.5  ) and I cannot hear flapping at all. The bag is very stout. |

I have the large size ARB awning and have been using it for a month now. I like it alot and can put it up by myself but it is way easier to have someone help. Also the bag is very stout and I have no problems with a bag versus an aluminum housing. I have the Northwesty mounts which also work well. It positions the awning so that any rain either falls in the rain gutters or on the awning. |

Just purchased an Arb awning (8') for $223.00 and free shipping. I'll be selling my Bus Depot one. |

No drilling into the Van required for ARB mounting, correct?
ARB looks lightweight
Drilling into the van recommended for mounting the Fiamma, correct?
Fiamma weighs 50+ lbs? right? |

no drilling for NorthWesty brackets. Drilling for GoWesty brackets. No comment on weight limits. |

From what I'm reading, DeadSetMonkey was asking about drilling into the van specifically. The GW brackets are made for the Fiama so to adapt them to the ARB awning you'll need to drill holes in the brackets. As far as drilling into the van I don't think you'd need to do that. The GW brackets work on compression by grabbing the gutter and pinning the leg down against the body. I haven't seen the Northwesty brackets in person but it looks to work the same way. The GW bracket kit does provide you with a rivnut for additional support, so you *could* if you wanted.
