Hello All!
Ok, so I was curious. What's the most powerful motor that can be driven as a daily driver and not torn apart every other day? I'm pretty sure a 2332cc Turbo can't be.. but how about a 2100ish??? |

It's not the cc's that make it dependable...it's the combo of parts that determine that.

The things that stop you from driving on any given day are more likely to be wiring problems, fuel system problems and the cheaply made parts people buy because they are the cheapest parts they could find.
And an engine made from the best available parts can also be a POS if it isn't assembled with care. An lot of money gets turned into expensive junk that way.
None of the above have nothing to do with displacement.

2276, w120, 40x35 heads, 8.5:1, 44 webers and svda....... Plenty power...awesome torque. Simple and easy to build..... |

2276cc, 8.5:1 compression ratio, 44mm Kadron weber carbs, ok. Whats W120/40x35/SVDA? |

I've got trouble with my wiring, it looked like the damn thing had caught fire at some point in time. I'm waiting on a new COMPLETE wiring harness from JBugs now. |

Any size will work fine. Decide how much power you want and go from there. Budget is usually a limiting factor on how big you can go. |

Good set-up, but you might want to tone it down a bit for the DD part. Engle 110 cam is enough for that engine and still be semi-smooth at idle. The power band on the W120 cam requires a good bit higher rpm range to be most effective - inconsistent with a DD. |

A 2276 with a w120 and 44's will pull tree stumps at idle and rev til about 5500 with mild heads. The 120 in a 2276 is completely different than if you were to install it in a 1776......completely different. |

I've got a 1776, engle110 cam, 14ish lb flywheel, single weber 40IDF, pertronix ignitor, stock heads with upgraded solid rockers, and high tension springs on my baja with a stage 1 clutch/pressure plate. I'd guess its around 105-110hp. I can certainly feel a power difference over my 1600DP. Even with pushing 30x9.50s. I love it.
and it's matched up with my bugpack 72plate electric oil cooler, I've not yet seen my engine break 200* F.
I love my engine. |
