i notice that in the beetle forum there are a ton of questions.you can post a question in the morning and by the afternoon its gone. sometimes without a answer. maybe the beetle forum needs more catergories like with super beetle. how about a oval beetle forum or split beetle forum or maybe a breakdown by years. that way questions will stay up longer. so newbee's to vws like me get the help they need. i am not complaining almost always my questions get answered. i just noticed that if you pop into the beelte forum the list changes fast. just a idea. vote in the poll voice your opinion

How about a Fat Chick Forum, or an Anal-retentive Restoration Forum?

I think maybe a FAQ section would be better. That way some questions and answers will stay up longer.

Definitely a FAQ section is an excellent suggestion.

Ya thought would be great. Before a new Beetle (split, oval) etc... in years forum came out, I would second that FAQ forum.

Good idea. How about a Resources Forum, for links on where to find hard to locate products

VW Addict Sun Nov 16, 2003 5:07 pm

Thats a good one to but there is only a limited number.
Many people also have suggested engine forums but you can list those problems under the catogory the engine goes into. I like the FAQ Forum but maybe it will get to big - and just better off putting your Questions you want answered in the correct forum.

A FAQ would be great. Most of the questions I see from newbies can be answered in a quick manner by hitting a page dedicated to that. Why not assign some of the olde timers in here a specific question to answer? Takes a bit of time, but once it's compiled the time savings on answering the repetitive questions would be enourmous. Add to it that You could create a downloadable PDF for offline printing and reading...

I actually have a(legit) copy of Adobe Acrobat, and some design skills. I'd offer to compile the info into PDF form even!

It would be nice to have it seperated like the classified section is (before and including 1967 and after and including 1968)

Well, i think if people have a pre 67(non-fatchick) question they should post it in the beetle forum and if they have a question on a fat chick bug they should automatically have to put it in the super forum...HAHAHA NAH, you guys are making this thing to complicated now. I think the site is fine the way it is now..well maybe a forums for like pre 64 would be nice cause anything after that should or is considered a fat chick...haha

Splitting the bugs into subcategories is a bad idea. Mechanically, it's the same car throughout the years with changes and improvements happening all the time. It would get too confusing to have to read so many forums just to keep up.

I agree. A FAQ section would be ok I guess but isn't that kinda the same as doing a search. And if you had a FAQ then you would have to combine all the answers into one thread. Then newbies might think that the info is Everetts responsibility and get mad at the site if something isn't perfectly accurate. Someone could say well his site said blah blah blah and it didn't work. The way it is now they should be aware that they are getting advice from an individual and not the site owner. Just my 2cents.

NO SPLITTING< that means we would have to search numerous pages, causing more time, causing more upset bosses.

kme9418 Mon Nov 17, 2003 2:44 pm

It's already hard enough keeping up with the 4 forums that I read. Splitting them up would mean same amount of info with more pages to load. Don't split.

And send a mandatory email to all newbies telling them to search before posting.

I think the FAQ forum is a great idea. Since something like 60% of the questions are asked weekly, and nobody likes to use the search.

Maybe make it so that it's the first place you go when you click on forums.

That is an excellent idea. As soon as they register they receive the message. Also send them a welcome note with it.

after reading everyone opinions the nanswer is obvious. we need a faq's page for thw more frequent asked questions. for instance do a search for " narrowed beam". you will have to wade through a lot of posts to find what you are looking for. and don't even try searching "lowering". you will be waiding through those posts for weeks. just my opinion, or suggestion i guess. :D

DubStyle Mon Nov 17, 2003 11:14 pm

How about a FAQ beetle forum? Seems like how narrow can I narrow my beam or how do I lower my Bug question comes up atleast 2 times a week.
