The Bentley's says to replace the windshield molding when replacing the windshield on my 1985 Golf. But I cannot seem to find it any anywhere. Is there any place that still sells it? If so, where?

Whenever I've had mine replaced, the glass guy just used a universal molding that he had in stock.

Funny thing is I've tried all the glass places here and they say they don't have anything that would work. I guess they just don't want to business with you unless you want the whole process done by them.

Yes I install my own glass. I can't get by paying $400 to have someone install a sheet of glass I can do myself. Prices here are outrageous.

Last time I ordered a new seal, it didn't come with the channel for the molding.

My windshield is glued in. The gap between the windshield edge and the frame after it's glued in is the channel for the molding. Seems the Bentleys manual does talk about another kind of moulding that fits into a seal put on the window before gluing. Aperently they don't make either or the one I have now is some sort of universal moulding that I don't know where to get.

I have no clue what they mean by plastic glue in molding, I've never seen that??
