I have had my original bumpers re-chromed. Can anyone tell me for certain whether or not the back side of the bumpers should be painted and if so what color. I'm doing a body off resto. on a 62 beetle vert and I really want to get the details right.

| All the original bumpers I've seen had a slate grey paint almost the exact same color as raw steel. |
