Just started a restoration of a 71 fastback.
2 questions:
1. Can pans be changed out without removing body?
2. Will any heater channels from a Beetle or Ghia fit the Type 3, all the ones I am finding for a type 3 are very pricey?
Thanks for any advice. |

Unbolt & cut the pans out. Cut the heater channels out, weld in the new ones & then weld in the new pans.
If the bug/ghia don't fit you can always 'stretch' them. |

| Thanks. I can get a pair of channels for a beetle for less that one for a type 3 cost. |

| Are your front/rear inner fenders surrounding the heater channels rusty too? |

| No just the center of the channels and I will have to replace the rocker on the driver side as well. |

| You have to take the rear fenders off before you can see the rear inner fenders. |
