I have a friend who owns a welding supply stor and he told me there wasnt much difference between the Miller and the Lincoln. The only thing he said was the Miller was much better for getting parts for. He told me the Lincoln took a very long time to get parts for, and Miller always has parts in stock.

I have the Lincoln Plus. Great little machine. Most of the body work you do will be on the lowest setting, especially if you're butt welding rusty panels. But I like the infinite dial and I didn't know they made it any other way.

I bought a Miller 130XP (the predecessor to the 135) used through a local "trader" about a year ago and I wouldn't trade it for another welder. No problems at all. Real reasonable price (barely used for $300). Excellent portability, with the 115 power you can take it most anywhere. It weld thin stuff really well and will weld all the way to 5/16" and I have yet to find any thing that thick on a VW to weld. I highly recommend checking your "trader" papers for deals unless money is no object and outfitting your welder to run 75/25 gas with solid core wire. Hope this helps.

I have a handler135 and it does a good job. I have found that flux core wire will not weld the sheet metal very good. It blows out the weld. I have heard that if you use .024 solid wire with shielding gas that you can weld the body panel. My 2 cents worth.
