View original topic: Closest replacement distributor to Bosch 0 231 168 005

Hi all,
I have a 2L 1977 dual carb camper.
My distributor has a lot of vertical play in it and it's generally a bit worn.
The distributor is the original - 0 231 168 005 Bosch, which I understand is the correct one for my van.

I know I can get shims, etc from the US to re-build mine, however, that's going to cost up to $70 for the part and postage. I'm investigating what would be the closest NEW, off the shelf distributor that I could buy that would have a similar profile of vac advance, etc?

I know there's plenty out there that will fit and work, but I want something as close as possible to the original. Or maybe somebody knows of somewhere that sells them re-built?

Thanks!

The Mexican dizzy is pretty much the same if you can find one.

Petronix and others have dizzies that are similar as well.

Thanks for the reply! :)

Any idea which of the pertronix dizzy would be the most similar?

These guys claim to match the stock profile you are after. In fact they have 16 position selector that lets you match a range of profiles:

But at a price: AUD550
