I picked this up a couple of weeks ago. It has a good engine but the exhaust has to go. Does any one know who made the body ? Also has any one made a fold down windshield frame ? I think the biggest problem is going to be the gas tank its integral to the body .Any thoughts Thank Donny
P.S I added photos but i dont know where they went |

Most of these type of fiberglass bodies that had integral tanks have had problems with tanks leaking after many years.... Best thing is to pull body off and cut out old tank area and clean it up as if tank was never there... Looks as there is room to fit a standard VW (8 gallon) tank under hood area, all you have to do is make a support system to hold tank and develop a filler system to put gas in it.... Not much different from any other buggy build.... Looks as if body has some real issues (vertical cut near steering wheel) and other things.... Lots of work there, take you time and think things through....

That cut or seam is on both sides . It does not make any sense for them to be there but they look factory . the head light buckets look like they were just glued on to the body i am glade they are still there . I will repair the taillight holes an start over .The body seams to be solid a lot of paint though ! I would like the windshield to fold down I have a fairly complete shop so fabing one does not worry me once i find or come up with a design i like |

I think its probably the name of the maker, Crockey. Don't know if there's any association but here's someone from that time and general neighborhood.

I think that buggy looks pretty cool. I'd roll it!
And I would run those mufflers on one of my Beetles! |

Had a little time to work on the buggy . I ground all the dead paint off with 36 grit on the DA one of the layers was kind of rubbery it was a pane !
Started on the fiberglass repair i found that a gasket hole cutter makes great disc out of mat for screw hole repair and a flapper wheel on the 4 in grinder is good for feathering old glass for repair
There are photos but i dont no where if someone in terms for a dummy"s how to put the pics here i am all ears thanks Donny
For now i figured out you can see the pics by clicking on gallery |

Umm... it looks like the body was cut at some point, like on left side at 'dashboard' area? Like someone was looking to stretch the body to fit onto an uncut VW pan?

to post pictures in your posts, go to your gallery and to the right of your pictures you will see a small box that says "forum code". highlight all that text and copy and paste it into your posts.
it does look like the body has been cut by the dash in a couple pics. i dont see the cut in others. |

The cuts are odd the vertical cut under the corner of the dash goes all the way to the floor and was put back together with woven cloth . But there are no signs of the fender flares being cut ? When i get done i am going to try to erase all signs of this mystery |
