BINGO! $100 baby! Or free if you listened to a timesharing sales pitch out in the California desert, haha!
Or if you were even earlier, the TS1000 was already assembled, that's for lightweights... you assembled your Sinclair ZX80 kit yourself!
A columnist for PC Magazine later mused that he was putting that computer to its highest and best use.
As a doorstop!
;-)
I had one of those. It had a Z80 processor with a whopping 2k of RAM. Bought it for $20 at a place called Peachtree Salvage because it did not work. Opened it up and the keyboard FPC cable had come loose. Easy fix. Overall, not worth the $20 I spent. I got more use from my TI-30. |

Yep! A little-known connection. Another detail: the cards best known were made the same size of our paper currency of the time, since handling and cutting machines were available.

These kinds of connections were the subject of a James Burke series on BBC/PBS here that taught history as these linkages, rather than dates and times. A worthy approach that would make it much more real to students.

Lurking deep underneath the glossy veneer of Windows lies the heart of DOS, still to this day.
Funny the old DOS file search commands worked better than the crappy Windows Explorer search function, which misses things and gives up after a while. Sort of Windows Millennial Edition, eh? ;-) |
