View original topic: Where's reverse HELP

I have no clue where to look for reverse. My engine and tranny are reversed?
The shift linkage goes past the engine to the back of the tranny. So instead when your behind the car you see the tranny first instead of the engine if that makes sense. So I do not know where reverse would be. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I understand what you mean but you should post some photos to show the linkage.

Or better, what car, which will help determine what engine and transmission combination. If it's a 5 speed Porsche 914, reverse is up and left (901 box). Later 5 speeds reverse was right and down (915 box).

I'm sorry but I tried for hours to put up some Picts and it's a homemade car

Email me the photos if you are having trouble.

looks like a type 1 swing axle , so reverse at trans would be down and out so on shifter being reversed I would say to your right and forward

Just a guess not knowing more details ..

Thank you I will start trying that. Maybe the linkage needs to be adjusted?

That is an awesome thing.

I'd say facing the nose cone, the coupling should be pulled outward and rotated as far as it will go counter-clockwise.

FWIW, I don't think that shifter will ever work well. I'd get a better engineered mid-engine shifter

Thank you I have tried that but maybe if I adjust the linkage to rotate farther it may work

See above
