Hey all.
I'm brand new to my 69 Type 3, but I've loved it since I got it. (Much to the behest of my girl, who wants something "far more stable".) To make matters worse, after this car sat in the rain for one evening, we started it up, pulled down the street, and on the first corner (right turn) it dumped what looked like a bucket full of water on her legs. On the next next couple of turns, it sloshed water on both of us until its storage ran out.

I'm going to try and trace where this leak is coming in, but if you have any ideas on how / where to start, I'd be appreciative. I'm no stranger to working with tools, but I'm a complete stranger to working on cars.

Thanks!

Fresh air vents... under the cowl... water comes in around the vents on the inside... I've got the same problem on my '69 square.... I haven't fixed it yet... as a temp fix a garbage bag under the dash keeps your legs dry(works but not recomended)

You need to visit www.cip1.com and order the Bentley manual that covers your year T3. That way you can learn the car inside and out. They are fairly easy to work on, and you won't be at the mercy of someone answering a post should you get in trouble. By all means come ask questions, but just don't corner yourself. Know what I mean?

There should be two hoses right under the dash that run vertical. You will want to make sure that those are not clogged. They go from the vents down right about where the tunnel starts.

I had the same problem the first time I left my Squareback sitting out in the rain. Turns out that the drain holes in the fresh air vent box (right in front of the windshield (outside) were clogged. The box would fill up with water and somehow make its way inside and all over the floor. Cleaned out the drain holes and no more problems.

I know it took me a while to respond, as I had fixed the problem after the first couple of replies, but as I'm sitting here waiting on my girl to wake up, (even though it's 4:44 pm X-mas Eve, we both work at a nightclub) I thought I would take the op. to say thanks for the help, and Happy Holidays!

make sure you put some screen in there after a good cleaning to help prevent this problem in the future
