I just bought an 89 Jetta diesel for $650 today and drove it back home a half hour with a slightly blown head gasket and a leaking pump. Before I pull the head I want to do my first rebuild on the pump. I noticed it does have the ADA mechanism, am I able to remove it? I heard its a hassle in the rebuild, is it true? Ive owned 3 diesel rabbits and currently a diesel westy but haven't come across this pump yet. I'm good with my hands and precision doesn't scare me but does the ADA ad any impossibilities?

Also, if I dont have the LDA on the pump then do I need to still order the DGK 126? If not where can I find all the appropriate replacements?

I'd contact the Parts Place in Pontiac (Auburn Hills), as they're the diesel experts when it comes to FWD VWs. They sell all sorts of bits and pieces for them too. :wink:
