I've been reading a lot of discussions here about hazard switch troubles. Ive learned a lot too. But I still need to ask you about this problem I'm having.
When I pull the flasher switch when the key is on, nothing happens. When I pull the hazard switch when they key is off, the red light on the hazard knob comes on, and so do the dashboard lights, along with everything else that normally comes on when I have the key in the position just before starting the engine. Most notably, the inline fuel pump that has been installed under the fuel tank.
Isn't it a little weird that pulling the hazard switch turns on the accessories?
Is this a switch that is wired wrong?
I've been scratching my head a lot because like many others here, my hazard switch posts have different labels than those on the wiring diagrams. It also does not have a ground wired to it.
I'm going to upload some photos of my switch to help tell a better story. |

With all of the corrosion I see on the outside, I'm going to recommend a new stitch. If it is that bad outside it will be Crap on the inside. That corrosion will cause all kinds of craziness. |

Holy S#!+!! I needed that diagram really bad. i bought that style of switch and basically spent 4+ hours trying to make it work on my 72 square, just to get it to work then mounted it and fried the switch. Awaiting a new switch to install using that diagram. Hand signals are very cold right now |
