I was driving down to my mother and dad's yesterday morning when the Squareback just cut off with no warning. Luckily I was very close to their house and I was able to coast to within a quarter mile. I got my dad to pull the car up the driveway with his truck, and I set about diagnosing...I suspected ignition, and pulled the distributor cap. I started wiggling wires, checking for loose connections, and heard a little "tink!" sound...

These were the points that came in the car when I bought it November 2nd, so I don't know their history.

In my Bug, I had used a Pertronix Ignitor for the last 15 years, and I always kept points and condensor as a backup, though I'd never had to use them. I had these in the Squareback tool kit, so I popped them in and was back in business. But the day before, I had ordered an Ignitor, so I'll put that in and see how it does. I've read how some folks say they've had trouble with them, but after reading Ray Greenwood's responses I feel like giving it a shot. I'll still keep the points as a backup.
