Just finished the install of a new ignition switch, (69 Bug). I had to replace the switch because it cooked.
Everything back together, now the blinkers don't work and the Hi Beam indicator light does not come on when the Hi Beams are working.
4 way flasher is working, all lights are working, not sure if the turn relay is ok or not and if not how does this effect the Hi Beam indicator light?
I've been pouring over the forums all day looking finally had to ask Thank you for your help in advance... |

On a 1969 VW, the ignition switch has nothing to do with the high beams or high beam indicator switch in the cluster.
So if both high beams work, look in the trunk and check the bulb for the indicator and make sure that you did not knock the wire off the bulb holder. It should be a blue/white striped wire, see below. That wire is on the same fuse/circuit as the left high beam.

Old school, trace one wire at a time. You’ll find the fault soon enough. I used to feel the same, like you needed to be a voodoo shaman to figure it out. |

Thx I just reviewed the wiring connections again and actually pulled the suggested “blue/white” wire from the fuse block BINGO the Hi Beam light is back. Still need to address the turn signals.
I’m thinking it could be the turn flasher relay. However, I’m not sure what it looks like or where it is on the bug. I feel like I’m in Autoshop 101. Sorry maybe this post should be in the “stupid question” string. Thx for your help |

The most common issue regarding lights not working in these old VWs has to do with poor ground and/or dirty connections. There’s multiple connections in the signal lights switch. Some times a bit of WD-40 will “fix” things up. Good luck! 8) |
