Anyone know or suspect if these are asbestos?
They are inside the accordion tube, not the external sealing rings (which I already replaced with the new silicone type).

probably. Cut a couple pieces of high temp silicone from sheet silicone to emulate them. Are those the rings that go on the end of the steel inside? I think I just painted mine with several coats of epoxy paint and baked them to cure them. Asbestos is only dangerous in friable form (in the air). |

Being in a bit of a rush, I just coated them liberally with red RTV. They weren't damaged or frayed to begin with so that should be good for another 40 years. |
