| Just as info; The Bosch alternators are really easy to service and the parts aren't expensive. Can be done yourself but a car electric workshop will do it in no time and can/should bench test before delivery. |

I destroyed the old 120A trying to get the rotor out. Now I know how they're done.
I was wondering if I can press out the rotor coils and weight masses out of the shaft itself: answer:NO
Do you have any addresses that would sell just the 140A rotor?
If not,I will have to buy another 140A alternator, damn it!! |

But of course!
http://www.frejbildelar.se/generatordelar/rotorer/rotor-bmw-bosch
That would be USD 180.
You can get all the VW free wheels as well, or any other brand if you find one that fits.

Still, I would choose a bolt on 120 A. ;) |

Thanks for the link Svenakela
Dang, I'll try to find a used alternator to steal the rotor from, or try to re-sell mine (2012) and buy another alternator.
The amperage is not the issue here, it's the fact that I bought an alternator meant to spin the other way.
SyncroSerge has a 140A that would be correct but I'm trying to work with what I have on hand. They all physically bolt plug and play on the alternator mount, so the amperage doesn't matter hereā¦

Now I have a foot in the door thanks to part numbers 8)
I found this site with the rotor dimensions
http://www.hc-cargo.com/Default.aspx?ID=2&Grou...p;ecat=cat refine with "amp 140"
I will look into that later  |

I got a big problem, the 140A alternator has a left hand thread VS right hand thread on the 120A. I checked the pulleys, and DUH! they're meant to spin different ways. No bueno
I'm not asking for a unicorn clutch pulley with left hand threads meant to spin the other way,I know there must be a reason for the thread and rotation way.
I got the same #07K 903 023C alternator for my ABA engine in the vanagon, but when installed it didn't work :(
I thought the 140a alternator was bad so I took it to check. They told me that the alternator is working fine but those are CCW.
Now I need to get a different one!
Wish I read this post before. |
