Might be a dumb question, but I am in the process of welding in front floor pans to my 67 kombi. Anyhow, doglegs look good. When I cut out the rusty floor, the "3/4 inch ridge" on the dogleg, right where it connects to the front floor pans is rusted out and gone. Hope you are with me, but do you need that ridge? What was is for? Structural? Or can I just weld the pans right onto the door doglegs flat?
Sorry is hard to describe. Thanks for the help!

Any ridges that were put in via the stamping/construction process of a vehicle are there for structural integrity and to prevent flexing. It's best to leave the ridge 'as-is'. |
