I have also posted this on the "Beetle - 1958-1967" Forum,
but wanted also to post here so as to know if being on a buggy,
I needed to do any reinforcing or additional supports, for off roading.
I figured there must be someone with a buggy that has experienced this?
I have a 1967 VW Beetle that has had the body removed down to pan,
then by adding the fibreglass body, turned into a Beach Buggy.
I want to add a TOW BAR (Tow Hitch or Trailer Tow Hitch) at the rear,
to be able to tow a trailer, or small caravan etc.
I can't seem to find any tech drawings, or build images, of the actual bar work,
or how to attach it to the pan.
So can anyone please post ...
How to mount a 1960's BEETLE Towbar, Tow Hitch or Trailer Tow Hitch?
What does the original 1960's BEETLE Tow Bar, Tow Hitch or Trailer Tow Hitch look like? |

Heads up guys he is asking to add a trailer hitch to rear of buggy!!!!
I have seen pictures of people adding a rear bumper/engine cage assembly like used on rear of baja bugs that connect to rear shock towers and large bolt that mount trans bracket to rear forks, usually installations have a 2 inch receiver welded into them....
First pic is typical rear cage for a baja, and you can add a receiver hitch to it....
Other images...
Maybe not best images but this is what a quick search of "Google Images" turned up, but will give you validation and inspiration...
