Looking for a source for these round emblems, which mount in front of the front door edges. Mine were slightly cracked, but towing the Van home on a trailer we got blasted by a couple storms on the plains and that finished the job. Looked on the usual sources but no luck. Suggestions?
Thanks, Doug |

The van is a syncro right? You could put some puch badges on it where the Wolfsburg ones were.

A little bit pricey but it would be a cool touch[/img] |

That's a beautiful badge. This one is not a Syncro. If they're simply not available, I wonder if one of the many other Wolfsburg models VW did would have an appropriate badge size? I have a Wolfsburg badge from my 86 Jetta Wolfsburg GLI that is about the shape and size, for instance.

Hi Doug,
There is no source for those Wolfsburg Edition badges new, but they do turn up used from time to time on eBay. The badge was the same from 1984 through 1988 on all Wolfsburg Edition VW models - not just vans. In 1989 the badge was changed to black from white, but it was still basically the same. The current VW Wolfsburg Edition models use a completely different rectangular badge that is available new from the dealer, but it wouldn't look right on the front of a Vanagon.

OK - thanks. So I will try to find a mate to the badge I pried off the fender of my GLI some 27 years ago after a stolen Porsche sideswiped me in Detroit. I was kicking his butt in one of those heavy traffic duels and he totally miscalculated a lane change, clipping a truck and bouncing into me. So it would be a cool bit of history to have this badge back in use on my Vanagon.....

if you still have the badge
This stuff works great. I use this all the time to repair old vitreous enamel work.

best results are had by filling with the color, and letting it cure, then stone in back to profile, and put a coat of the clear on last, and cure it again.
..not in the direction sheet
have fun |

Thanks for the linky. Unfortunately, the badge is not contoured to accept the artwork - it's a plain featureless dome under there. So no guides or anything to refill with color... Probably not really an enamel badge, eh?

Another option: Have a local shop print up a couple of decals.

I believe Meister Werks have recreated these badges in the past.
You could give them a call to confirm.

I always thought it would be cool to use these large vinyl laser-cut versions. Any color you want. Smallest size is about 4" however.

Someday might use a red one to replace the black stormtrooper on my CHC top.
these are 2.5".... could look cool.
