Hi All,
In case anyone is interested, a low cost solution to Cylinder Head Temperature measurement that rivals Dakota Digital in my opinion, is a digital thermometer available at Aliexpress. Hook up 5-28V power, ground and a k type thermocouple, and you will have an accurate digital temperature gauge.
Aliexpress also sells k-type thermocouples with 14mm ring terminals that can be mounted under the #3 spark plug. Lengths of 1 meter to 7 meters are available, and I used 5 meter in the Beetle.
This is the digital thermometer where you can select different colors and F or C. Around $10 for the meter and around $15 for the thermocouple.

Here are some thermocouple options:

7 meter used in Vanagon:

Here are photos of installation in the Beetle where the digital “gauges” are mounted in 52mm VDO blanking plates in an AliExpress 2 gauge pod, mounted under the EMPI gauge pod. The red is CHT in F, and the green is outside temp in C (Canada car). A little bit hokey looking maybe but works well. Also nice that measures accurately at any low or high temperature including below freezing and up to 900F, as if car would get that warm.
Cheers!
