Just got myself a late bay, 2.0 fuel injected type 4 engine. Taking out the fuel injection system as it has a leak but I noticed this plastic knob which looked to be screwed or bolted through to the fly wheel. Also looks like a wire went to it at some point.
Any ideas?

did you damage the wire?
If you did, the VW dealer analyzer from the late 1970's won't be able to tell timing anymore. That is if you can find a dealer who still has the equipment.

| That's great thanks for the information. Does the engine need it for running? I.e the ecu doesn't use it for fueling? |
