Hello, I have a 1959 Karmann Ghia Convertible I am restoring and I am looking for a source that would have the correct color for the steering column (gearshifter, ebrake, etc.) and rim color for my car. I've found sources for body and interior material colors, but nothing for these detail items. Any help with a color source or equivalent color would be of great help. |

If it is the same as a 52 beetle I have that information. The information I have is Ivory, but I have seen some that have a gray color. Are you looking for the Ivory?
The ivory for the sterring wheel, column, shifter and ebrake handle is Dupont 97111. This is actually a Rover color, but it is computer matched to the ivory that Koch's uses on the steering wheels. If you want the PPG number you may be able to get that from Koch's.
The white for the rims is L87 pearl white. Dupont # YS421. Some people use the white in the center protion of the rim and some use the white on the outer portion. I have seen it both ways and I do not know what is correct, so I figure do what looks good. If you use wide whitewalls you will want it in the center of the rim for the best look. |

Thanks for your reply. Mine is Ivory. The color is also the same that was used for the frame of the seat. I've heard that 54 - 57 Bug seat frames use L75 (beige), could this be the same for mine? Other sources point towards L471 (stone beige) or L466 (silver beige). Any other input anyone?
I'm lost for the rims. I have only black and white photos of the rims and they had beauty rings in the photo, so I only know that the rims were a light color. I don't think they were two-toned but one solid color. |
