My beetle cuts out every now and again, and I lose all power. I switch the ignition off and try to start it and it starts but dies immediately. I try to rev it to get it idling but it seems like it doesnt get enough fuel. As I dont hear the car revving as loud as it should, in relation to where the pedal is. Once i do get it started it runs fine without cutting out, and I can drive perfectly.
But like I said, it happens only every now and again. But is becoming more frequent.
Could it be the air and fuel mixture not being right?
Any help and advice will be greatly appreciated |

You might be able to eliminate whether or not its a fuel supply problem. Next time it happens, before attempting to restart it, remove the air cleaner and look down the carburetor bore. Move the throttle linkage and observe whether the accelerator pump squirts fuel. If you have an accelerator pump, and it has gone dry, that will tell you that it starved of fuel (ie fuel tank, lines, filter, fuel pump problems). |

When you say you lose all power... do you mean electrical power or engine power? Maybe your needle/seat in the carb is sticking. But it could be a lot of things, you'll need to provide more info. |
