The PO did not have good sense to replace the blades so there is a semi circle dullness in the glass...suggestions beside replacing the glass? |

hey 1911Tex,
yes you can polish glass, but for lack of a better saying
"your results may vary"
it depends on how gouged/scratched the glass is.
Verses
buying the polish and the correct buffer/grinder stuff to do the Job.
I've done a "cheap" version using rain x's glass polish and my D/A wax buffer with a terrycloth and a bit of water.
The wife's old Toyota Paseo's windshield was "so bad" that oncoming lights at night was a wash out esp if the window was wet.
came from parking under trees and using wipers with the tree debris all over.
Basicly this window should have been replaced so I thought what the heck I'd try it.
It helped, it didnt make it look new (what I did) but i was amazed of the outcome.
I think Griots Garage, or Eastwood sell a glass polish kit but it may come down to price on what ya do.
Let us know how it goes man!

I think you will spend as much to work with that glass and have a OK job were most glass companies will cut a glass for $100.00 and you have a new one. Also if you need to have your car state inspection or transfer you will need a clear glass. |

yes, replacing the glass would be preferred but with inspection and registration stickers both new, I might try the polish process first and then replace next year when the permits are due. |

Toothpaste has a mild abrasive and can be used to polish out small scratches and water spots. My local glass shop sold me a cleaner/polish that was more abrasive than toothpaste and did a really fantastic job on the dark tinted windows of my RV, but darn if I can remember the name of that stuff. |

Took the words right out of my mouth....
We don't have the inspection sticker issue here, but can't you just get them reissued? What do they do if you have a busted windscreen and have to have it replaced? I'd say it's the same situation.... You had to get a new glass, and need new decals....*shrug* |

Check with a glass shop, measure your glass to give size. The Thing shop also has them for $145. |

Was just quoted a price of $96.00 from local glass shop. They prefer that I bring the original glass to use as a template. |

I had one cut for a customer's car, locally.
They used his old one as a template.
5minutes away, and $85. Upon request, they even cut a paper template for me to keep, and use if I return my Thing to roadworthy status. |
