I have a 63 beetle that is still 6volt. What is entailed in converting it to 12 volt. Is there any guides out there to doing this???

On the isssue of the starter/flywheel... If your keeping the 40hp engine and the 180 clutch 6V flywheel... you could leave the starter as is... what will eventually burn out is not the starter motor but the solenoid... you can just put a 12V solenoid on the 6v starter...
There are several ways to deal with the wiper motor also. You can get a new armature kit and put it in. Or a pre made varible speed resistor unit (about 40 bucks)
I kinda like them, I have put several in for people and they liked it as you can turn it up and down to adjust the speed of the wiper, instead of having just the one speed. Or you can also get a 67 2 speed motor and switch and make a few mods to the assembly to mount the motor ect....
I prefer the alternator over the gen and v-reg... If you need more specifics post again or re read some of the old threads...

Is that what happens when you convert your brain to 12V? It goes faster than your fingers????
