Even though I am far from the stage where I should be concerned about buying tires for my project, I thought I would discuss this now since I am in the "rebuilding the chassis" stage of the car.

I have a set of Empi 5 spokes (15x5.5). The car will be dropped 2" to 3" in the front and 1" to 2" in the rear. The standard would be to run 145's on the front and 165's on the rear (as I have done in the past).

1) I want a little more tire touching the pavement in front and in rear.

2) I want clearance for the tires from the fenders.

3) I would like to be able to find these tires in a local warehouse (hate to park the car while I have to look for replacement 145's to be mail-ordered in).

4) Might be nice to have a similar profile so I can carry one spare that will work for both the front and rear of the car.

By discussing this now, I will know what changes I need to make in my chassis ideas(height, narrowed beam, etc..)

Thanks,

James

firestone produce in there f560 range, 125/135/145/155/165/185, all standard profile.

A new on the block tyre size is as fitted to the merc smart car, front 145 65 15, back 175 65 15, made by continental and bridgestone.

I guess you are usa but have a look at www.xpediatyre.co.uk
