I am going to buy a 1958 VW Beetle and was wondering if it hurts the value that is has a 73 Super Beetle engine. The car will need paint and a headliner but has only two small spots of rust on the floorboard that I can mig and repair. |

Surely not, very VERY few early cars have the original crankcases anymore. If it checks all the boxes for you and the price is right for you, get it.
You can always source/build a 36-horse engine for it if "originality" is a goal for you. |

That will be factored into the price. The more original the car the more it is worth. If you don't care that it has the different engine that is all that matters. |
