When I am driving I am hearing a high pitched "whirrr" noise coming from the back, seems like the passenger side. I get it at all speeds, but almost to high to hear at higher speeds. It does not appear to be related to the brakes. It does not sound like a bearing, at least not at the grinding stage per Notchboy's video. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance.
I will try to get the missus to drive it around the hood this weekend while I dangle from the sliding door and listen. |

Bearing noises start out pretty quietly and then get louder with time. Rear wheel bearings tend to make noise pretty constantly, and may be noisier when turning one way than another.
Tranny gears and bearing can make a variety of whirling noises. Some more load dependent than others. Alternator bearings are a common source of fairly constant whirling noises. |

| When I first got my bus, I heard a whine from the rear and found it to be the alternator. The belt was tight as a flea's ass stretched over a rainbarrel. Toasted bearing. |

I had a T4 with duct tape round the cooling boot to the alt that came loose and was riding round making noise.-
Best way is to stand on back bumper with wife driving to hear the noise --works all the way up to 65 mph and then you lose your grip on the air intake.-
Don't ask how I know that. :oops: :oops: s0 maybe not the BEST waay |
