I recently got a 1971 VW beetle and I was wondering if there is a product out there and I haven't been able to find.
I am trying to have a quick disconnect steering wheel for the stock wheel that came with the bug that requires no welding and allows the horn to still function
I am only recently getting into working on cars and I am very new to this hobby, any help is appreciated, links to product pages are even better :) |

| I don't know of any and don't know why you would need one. |

The ultimate anti-theft device. But looks a bit silly carrying around your steering wheel while shopping at Wal-Mart.😊 |

| Gotta go aftermarket wheel unless you plan to cut up a stock wheel. |

Unless the thief happens to have vice grips. Or a flatbed tow truck. :D |

The chicks dig it, of course.
You'll definitely have to go aftermarket. I went with the Grant quick-disconnect, myself. It's a pretty nice piece, although they're not easy to find.
I get the biggest kick out of popping my steering wheel off when I get out of the car (I carry it in a single-strap book bag, you'd never suspect I was walking around with a steering wheel slung over my shoulder).
Vice grips wouldn't help at all with the Grant quick-disconnect. A tow truck would, though. That's why I always try to park nose to the curb and crank the wheel full to the left; it might not stop a determined thief, but it should at least be a pain in the ass! |
