Hello,
First off, this is my first post on here so please excuse me if this isnt the correct location for this type of post. I’m hoping you guys could help me out with some questions regarding my father’s 1975 Beetle. This car has been in our family for almost 20 years, however due to changes in his health he needs to look at parting with the car. His initial goal was to restore the car to be able to putter around town in it during the summer, however this isn’t really the most realistic now. This he loves the car, however it does need some work that he just can’t do by himself anymore. I’m hoping for some insight as to what you think the car is worth to someone who can appreciate it for what it is.
As I said, this has been in our family for almost 20 years (the previous owners were family friends). The car originally came from our home town, so its been around for quite some time.
During the time that we’ve owned it, the motor was rebuilt twice (I believe – I do not know if there is any kind of paperwork on this or not), and the interior/exterior were redone. The car hasn’t been driven a whole lot over the last few years, however it has been garaged the entire time. The paint looks nice, however there is some bubbling starting to appear (its not a $5000 paint job). Overall the car looks nice, and the body is straight. The interior is in good shape, and many of the parts were replaced with new factory style replacements. The stereo is aftermarket, however this was more for show than use (I’m not 100% sure if the sub is actually hooked up, however all the wiring is there).
The car does run, however it needs work. It will drive around town OK, though I wouldn’t want to drive it any long distances without having everything gone through by a professional (or someone who really knows these cars). As I said, it hasn’t really been driven much for several years. I don’t know much about these cars.
The odometer on the car says 48484 (I do not know if this is actually 148k, or 248k).
I have attached a full gallery of pictures for reference. We’re not expecting a fortune out of this car, however it would be nice to know an estimated value if we do need to sell it.

It appears to be a reasonable car, if there isn't any significant rust then it's probably a $4500 car. One thing though, if it doesn't run well, it may be hard to sell. It would be in your best interest to take it to a local mechanic, one that works on air-cooled VW's and have them get it road worthy. Even if you needed to spend $500 to get it running well, it would be worth the investment otherwise you'll have folks second guessing the issues and offering you $2500 for it.
Also, shoot a few pics of the rough spots for full disclosure.
