| I am wanting to paint my 68 beetle diamond blue but I'm having a hard time finding a paint shop that can find a modern paint code to mix the color. I took the VW code in a few places that I found on this site in the technical section but that hasn't helped. I'm wanting to do a base/ clear, if anyone knows a code to mix diamond blue I'd appreciate the information. |

If you have a sample, they should be able to mix it.
If no sample, Google "AutomotiveTouchup". They should have the code and the sample (spray or touch-up bottle).

Don't know if this will help or not, but here you go:
http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/colorcodedisplay.cgi?t...ond%20Blue
This gives paint codes for Ditzler/PPG, DuPont, and Martin Senour paints for the VW diamond blue color. HTH |

I don't have a factory part to scan as the car is not originally diamond blue.
That Web site had some good information, I hope a paint shop can mix based on those codes. The ppg and Martin senour brands have one code but the dupont has 8167L,8167, and 8167D I wonder what the letter stands for? |

When you go into your gallery index just click and highlight the "forum code" you see to the right, then right-click and hit "copy", then come here and just paste it.

| BTW the PPG code from that page is how I got my car repainted the original Royal Red- hopefully there is some paint/ body shop in your area that can use one of those codes. Good luck |

| L50B is the color code for the Diamond Blue. However, I did see a color of a new beetle that closely resembles it and is a modern color. That color is Aquarius Blue. Look up the color in google. |

Thanks sb001 for the picture link. I am using my phone so I haven't mastered the whole copy and paste thing yet. But yes, that car is the inspiration for my 68.
Rydney, I will look into the aquarius blue from a new beetle. If it's close and I can't find a competent paint shop to mix the diamond blue I will go that route. |
