View original topic: Is Lojack transferable?

I bought a car with a Lojack already installed. Does anyone know if it's transferable and what the fee might be? Will they come uninstall it if I don't want it?

What's the normal fee for Lojack? I assume more than I want to spend...

Just got my answer from Lojack on a Wednesday night before Thanksgiving. (That's some good customer service.) Apparently it's a one time fee to have it installed. And it's good for the life of the vehicle. So I have Lojack for free. That's cool. This car just keeps getting better and better.

I'm too lazy to look it up. I find it hard to believe they don't charge you a monthly fee.

Ya. Me too. And why wouldn't you mention that when your selling a car? Plus for me. It must be expensive to get hooked up to begin with.

Google lojack to see the pluses and minuses of this approach, vs an active tracker with a monthly fee.

Biggest problem for lojack for me is that they refuse to let you watch the install. I know every nook and cranny of my car and know FAR better where it could be best installed, but they refused to "play ball," and I don't trust them to not f*** up my restored beauty.

Well it's already in my car. And it's free. So I'm not going to complain. I'd bet ten dollars it's under the back seat. Where else could you put it?

Don't forget that the battery in the LoJack has to be replaced about every 5 years. You take it to a LoJack dealer and they charge you about $79 to replace it.

Thanks, 79. Good to know.
