Besides getting to luggage, what is it good for?
I can't think of any pressing need to get to the roof of the van, but perhaps I'm missing something obvious. Maybe it really is just for the luggage, kayaks, etc.? |

We use ours to access the cargo box. It also holds a Rotopax of water and one of gas.
Apparently, it also holds skis in between sessions. |

Yep. Wouldn't want a cargo box without it. Makes life that much nicer.
I choose to have my cargo box (and RMW side mounted ladder) on the driver's side so the passenger side is free for my SUP board and awning. Sure would suck to have to roll up your awning to access your cargo box  . Also, rear mounted ladders don't give you as much access to the entire cargo box. |

Rooftop tent access for the kids. At camp it also serves to get them up trees otherwise unclimbable. Roof access for loads is possible just fine, but I'm surprised how dangerous it feels sometimes when I'm on a wet bumper or wet tire trying to deal with something up there without the ladder.
