hello i have a 2000 v6 eurocan and it runs for20 minutes and then dies and wont stat again for awhile had a shop work on it because im busy with other things he replaced the fuelpump and sending unit idiot..... he cut the carpet inbtween the seats tooo. anyways same probem remains tried another coil to be sure and it still happens fgpt a code for 16706 and po322 crank sensor anyone else have this problem and possibly shed some light on the subject i would appreciate it i am doing it myself now which i should have done from the start

I'll try to remember to check tomorrow on the fault, but VW has issues with their crank sensors. Can you check faults or measuring blocks or rpm signal from the ecu any way? If you can see rpm, watch it during cranking to see if it works. If you see 0 while cranking, I'd say the crank sensor is bad (engine speed sensor). Also plug those fault codes into wiki.rosstech.com

I don't see it too often in Eurovans, but everything else it's pretty common.

Was it throwing those codes before the mechanic did the fuel pump, etc? If so you may want to ask the mechanic why he replaced the fuel pump vs looking for the crank sensor fault?

For reference a quick google search of a fault code always turns up lots of useful information. Something your mechanic can do also. :D

If memory serves me correctly, there may have been a service bulletin about the wires to the crank sensor being faulty. I would bypass the factory harness wiring to the sensor and replace the original sensor. Should be good to go. I spent 3 years as a VW service advisor and vaguely remember something like this.

Additionally: if you have yet to replace the sensor, replace it. They do fail on vw's. Of all kinds.

hello thanks for the reply on my eurovan crank sensor problem. i had brought it to a guy i had worked with at a car dealership before figuring he could save me time diagnosing it with the scan tool instead he changed my fuel pimp and sending unit 500 bucks in parts to no avail he them said it had two codes one for the speed sensor and on for the crank sensor. i put in the crank sensor and fixed the problem myself thanks all........
