Hello -

Just wondering if there is anyone doing quality rebuilds of 34 PICT carbs. I see one person in the classifieds selling them but their feedback isn't great. Anyone know of other sources?

Tim with volks blitz is the man from what I hear around here. I emailed him about a couple things he was friendly prompt and helpful.

x3 on Tim. Spend the extra money and get the threaded and barbed fuel inlet fitting.

He responds to emails clearly and quickly; not many left in this industry who communicate that well.

x4 on Tim. Put one of his rebuilt 34 pict carb on my baja, love that little thing. When you get the carb it looks brand new. He does great work

Tim seems like a good guy when I have talked with him. His work looks great. I'm going to use him to rebush my PDSITs.

I have several of Tim's carbs....No complaints, just praise. I actually have been building up a stash of his rebuilds for future projects. I prefer his by far over any of the current aftermarket carbs that are available. He can either rebuild yours or sell you one out of his inventory.

you have one of two situations - either your carb is rebuildable, or it is a core. If it is a core then parts from it might be used with parts from another to make one good carb.

Even back in 1977 it was incredibly hard to find good core 1971 bus 34-pict-3. The ones on the wrecks were either worn out or too expensive. New ones back then were almost $600 from VW and one got a replacement model, not one jetted as the original. Used ones normally were from other models than a bus.

My suggestion is to compare your base flange number to the one in this list and see what it was for originally built for before you send it off. If it is in good shape, they are very easy to rebuild. If it is a core then you will need someone like the fellow suggested who has spare parts to replace what is worn on yours. By knowing the base flange number you may want to consider looking for one with the correct base flange number if the rest of the bus engine is stock - distributor etc.

Thanks for all the positive comments, making me blush!

Its very rare that a core carb is too far gone for a quality restoration, and even if the flange numbers are not correct for the vehicle, I can change things around so they do match the vehicle and engine.

I would like to know this as well. I've bought a few of your carbs without them, and I'd like to add them if possible.
