Knowing that tools are an investment that pays back over a lifetime, should lessen the pain of their purchase.

Parts that you may never need is money irretrieveably gone.

A repair shop is a compromise that may save you money or cost you money.

In my World....... Tool purchase WINS!!!!

Yea that makes sense, I'll buy the tools. Last night I didn't think about the fact that I don't need all those tools on the list. Good ol' brain farts haha.

This is why I was hoping to see a link or picture of what was bought. My guess is it's a unit from a 1.9 van and not for a 2.1.

If the OP is running a 2.1 with 2.1 components there is zero question about this ignition control unit being found on the vehicle.

(Yes, I print out online information, too many links have gone dark over the years!)

On page 22 of the 1986 model training manual (the year the 2.1 was introduced)

Oh I'm long past looking for that ignition control unit. If you google ignition control unit vanagon you will see what it looks like.

I'm now chasing down the problem in the manner prescribed by the provided link on page one of the thread. I checked with a voltmeter at the hall unit and nothing. The manuel then says to check the fuel injection ecu but I can't find it or any info that tells me where it is. Im assuming its not an individual part on this model So I decided to jump to the ecu itself. Unfortunately I couldn't get the harness off the ecu. I didn't want to break it. I'm at work now but I'll try again after work.
