Before and after pictures. This was a friends Thing when he was in high school and has been sitting since 87. He realized he would never get to it and gave it to me as a project.

I have owned 3 Things so far - would love to find my original from the late 70's. Is there a place to post the vin? Ran a search through California DMV but they dont offer a lot of info - just says last registered in the 90's and not junked. Any suggestions would be appreciated. 1833014731 |

The Thing registry has a list of VINs by year.
https://vwthingregistry.com/
https://vwthingregistry.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Registry-Public-List-June-10-2021.pdf
I checked your VIN is not listed. |

You definitely need to pay a visit to the Thing Shop in Chandler. They don't really have much of a storefront but are generally happy to give you a tour of their operations. Bring your checkbook, credit cards and least loved child. |
