Every forum has a "Whine" topic so, lets keep them in one place.

DenverB Thu Jul 16, 2015 4:45 pm

I'll start:

$51k ??? Even at 57,000 miles It'd better have a flux capacitor installed. The panels haven't even been corrected and are faded to yellow.

The van is also just about to enter the zone where the real problems start to surface. I can't imagine the feeling buying that van then running into trans problems in a few thousand miles...

If one is going to try and ask $30k for a 1995 EVC with 85k miles, one should at least pay someone else to clean the dingy upholstery and possibly pay a body shop to pull out the four spots on the rocker where some moron jacked up the van incorrectly causing body damage that will no doubt become rusty over time....

To be clear, this isn't a whine but since we don't have a good/interesting FS ad.

Not very many TDI T4s on NA soil come up.

Rare one around here

Abscate Mon Jan 04, 2016 8:50 am

If you know your DoKas, you'll note this is ONLY T4 DoKa FS right now here on the samba. That spells rare.

212k miles at 10000 CAD??

Apply the usual divide by 2 to get the correct Samba seller starting price and its close.

Tires are hard to find.

It eats brake pads and rotors.

Chasing leaks in the Trans fluid, Cooling System.

Heater core replacement is a royal pita!

Electrical system can go all schizo on you.

And the original stereo speakers are a sick joke.

Not technically a whine, but I'm curious about this EV for sale on a local CL listing. What's this vent on the RR window?

A rear vent -- or early van cosmetics to to make it look more vanagon like?

There is actually one set up for sale here on the samba -- take a look as it includes the rear blower too.

Folks, when you post just the link like this one and the ad gets pulled the link dies, leaving us forever bereft of the joy of a great find. It does not take much time and effort to copy and paste the ad text and a photo to post here for posterity. Don't let the cringe be lost.

Zeitgeist 13 Sun Jul 24, 2016 2:29 pm

Trust me, it was awesome squared. Very much so.

I cribbed lots of pics from the ad. I will post them when I'm feeling squarely awesome.

Meanwhile, here's another nifty kit for an EV, especially one with a manual trans:

As promised, here are the pics

I ran a 2003 weekender/westy for more than a decade, my (now x-)wife took it in the settlement... :-( OK, so now I've got a Vanagon, but still look at EV's with some interest. This one obviously needs a tranny, but at just over 5k, it caught my eye. Would be nice some day to get another EV and sort the tranny, etc.

Hope someone takes this to a nice home.

If the transmission is the only major issue, then that is a great deal. Even with a transmission rebuild, this would be around 10k less than what they typically sell for.

Is this price a typo?

$105,000:
