Morning, I have upgraded my brake system pretty heavily over the last few months from stock 66 to empi disc kit in the front, dual master cylinder with stock drums in the rear. no matter how i try to bleed i cant get anything. i have talked to several people in the Denver CO area including KCW and am getting mixed info. My question is do i have to run a pressure valve inline of eith my front or rear brake line since the system is now mixed. A few people have told me as long as i take the pressure valve out of the master cylinder i will be ok. So i did that and still get nothing. Any info advise well be great.

Several threads have mentioned disc brake parts are higher than the master cylinder and would not bleed without 2 people and jacking the car up off the ground .
After several attempts I finally ended up using the gravity feed/beer method .

did you buy a cheep master cylinder

No, you don't need to run a residual pressure valve. I run the same setup as you, and it simply needed bleeding.

If your calipers are like mine, they have two bleeder nipples. Be sure to use the upper most. Also, consider unbolting the calipers and orienting them one at a time in a position that places the nipple nearest the top, during the bleeding process. It might be wise to place something between the piston and caliper, or use a c clamp, to prevent forcing the piston out of the caliper.

Also, it takes a while to bleed the rears. Be patient. Be sure to adjust both brake shoes fully out to the drum. You can loosen them slightly later. This will assist in getting a firm pedal sooner.

How much pedal free-play do you have?
