I put a card on the notice board of a local parts store, read something like this
‘1967 VW bug parts car. Floors and heater channels shot but has rust free doors with all the glass and mechanisms, uncut dash, undamaged front clip, good original fenders and the original radio. No engine, no title, complete car only, will not part out, $350 firm’
Pretty straightforward I thought and IMHO a fair price for a 67 as they were one year only.
The first 20 or so calls asked if it was drivable and would I take an offer, then there were a few who asked what sort of engine it had, followed by, “is the title in your name?” Finally this guy, who seemed to know what he was talking about, came round to see it.
“I’ll give you $25 for the doors”
At this point I gave up and told him he wasted his time coming over as he didn’t read the ad which said I was only going to sell the car complete. He then started bleating about how far he had traveled to see the car.
“Then make me a realistic offer” I said
His reply? “I told you, I’ll give you $25 for the doors”
I think I'll just sell it for scrap :cry: |
