New to site. Thanks for any help in advance. My 84 vanagon 1.9 appears to be overheating. Red flashing then solid light says so. However I do not think I have lost any coolant. Where is first place to begin? !. Bleed lines and flush? 2> check sensors and fan switch? 3. check for leaks in hoses and resevoirs? All Suggestions appreciated.[/list] |

Check:
1 - Water pump belt
2 - radiator fan working
3 - radiator gets hot (use infrared thermometer or similar...hand). If it doesn't get hot top to bottom it's probably plugged. |

What is the temp gauge needle reading? What red flashing light are you referring to? The coolant warning light only flashes, never turns on solid. Do you have an owner's manual to look at?
