Can’t seem to paint without the orange peel …

Some professional painters will make the final coal very thin so it flows out more evenly and settle flatter.

Your bus is looking fantastic.

And we have a runner 🥲
Bad day in the paint tent, made a lot of mistakes

Used putty to sand away the runners, worked out pretty well

Taped of the part way to close so now a lot of sanding
without damaging the bodywork 😭 why why

and they said it would be easy... hell no 🤣

Found some finer grid paper, maybe an even better finish

What you call a "bad day in the paint tent" I would call Fantastic progress. Beautiful work, if it was easy, anyone could do it.

Yes, what they said ^^^. I've never seen that putty trick before. Looks to have worked. Is the paint with hardener?

Kdavid Wed Jul 14, 2021 10:28 am

All the seagull grey painted, The ending is in sight
Assembly and fun stuff 😄
And yes 2k paint (with hardener)

Looks great. Can you share more about using putty for the run? Never seen that either. What is the theory there?

Kdavid Tue Aug 03, 2021 12:30 pm

Finished 🎉
Cut & buff and start reassembling the thing

sgellis Tue Aug 03, 2021 12:40 pm

Very nice!! A lot of work but you must be glad you attempted to paint it yourself. :)

Kdavid Tue Aug 03, 2021 1:03 pm

It certainly saved me a lot of money spraying the bus myself.
Spraying the inside, outside and bottom of the bus with a professional painter would have cost me 4 times as much
But I think I also worked on it 10 times longer 😄
it's definitely not a perfect paint job but i'm happy with the result
i won't be afraid to take it on the road
One more advantage when i do have paint damage on the road don't have to worry about repairs anymore because now… I have the skill to fix it 😂
