I have had no luck with Hagerty because I have a propane tank. No luck with Progressive RV as they would only insure for blue book value.
Looking to get it insured for more than that! Im fine getting it appraised. Im in California. Any info would be appreciated! |

I use State Farm believe it or not. It's insured as a collector vehicle. Pretty cheap for full coverage and I told them replacement value. I'm sure they would contest it if something happened though.. lol |

I'm interested in this topic.
If possible, I'd like to see some details, such as is your Westy, etc insured as a camper? Are you allowed to camp in it? Mileage restrictions, etc etc.
Due to a couple foster sons making mistakes in my cars (a couple minor accidents, and a couple tows), my insurance company isn't real happy with me so I've thought about changing. But all three old VWs get driven on a very regular basis so I've shied away from some of the "classic" insurers and just have regular full coverage policies on them.
I'm afraid they'll probably try to cheat me by claiming it is an old, rusty, 40-something year old vehicle and give me a check for $52.... I have started printing and filing copies of ads for Wild Westerners in case I ever need to fight insurance on that. |

I have full coverage on my 1970 bus and 1987 Westy. I have previously had full coverage on my 1968 doublecab and my 1973 bus. Always with Safeco. Never any issue getting the insurance I request. Only problem is explaining the vehicle type. Kombi, Type 2 Transporter, minvan, van, truck or beetle. Pick one.
I use the term Transporter. Sometimes it shows up as Kombivan if I make a change to the policy. |

I was able to insure my Westy through Hagerty with agreed upon value. It was cheap and also offers road side service. They made sure that I did not have a Propane bottle, mine does not have a cooker option, and also asked me what the use was. I told them Bus shows and Sunday drives. I have a camper so I use that for camping. I also have my beetle with them and have been happy so far. |

X3, I have no issues with my State Farm Multi plan. We agreed on a value and I have full coverage. Even had roadside assistance but dropped it b/c AAA is da bomb. |

We use Safeco for all 3 of our cars. The bus has an agreed upon value and no restrictions. I have zero complaints with them! We also added towing (like $12 a year) and have used it several times. Ironically only for our "modern" cars. Recently I was getting my Volvo inspected and happened to not have a valid insurance card (literally expired the day before). I called Safeco, talked to an actual person and they emailed me a card within seconds. /commercial :P |

Thanks everyone! Ended up going with Safeco, only one that would insure at a higher value. |
